    No way on the “re-dumb-ant”.

Seriously, which ever one you will use. So go with what you think you will use the most. Any difference would be minimal, actually using it is the biggest hurdle.

Only consideration is if you ride for real then get the type that matches what you really ride.

It depends on which bike you are actually riding. The important thing you have to consider is the muscle groups you are trying to condition are different, ( two totally different groups ) you’re talking about two different animals between a Recumbent and a Bike.

The Recumbent will put less strain on your back, arms and neck than a bicycle, It’s a totally different ride. I’ve ridden both and am now riding a Bacchetta Strada as you can see from the icon.
I prefer the Recumbent, and after twenty plus years of riding a bike I will never go back to a DF.

As for which is better for a home workout, that will totally come down to you and your preference and what your trying too accomplish.

Also to Hogie, the differences between a bent and a bike are more than minimal, you had better do some research pal.

From personal experience the upright is a much bettter exercise because you have to work alot more muscle groups. Recumbants are for lazy people that just want to sit back and pedal while watching the tv. They dont give near as good of a workout

The answer to this will primarily depend upon your fitness level and any physical limitations that you may have. In the end, go with what you are the most comfortable with.

However, I highly recommend going with a fixed gear/flywheel spinning bicycle. A spinning bike like the Lemond Revmaster will give you both a solid cardio workout as well as help you with your cycling mechanics (if that’s important, that is). In addition, spinning bikes provide much better strength training.

The home workout depends on your goals and a few other considerations:

    - If you ride bicycle, then what you choose for the home workout should be the same

    - If you have back or knee issues, a recumbent bicycle is definately less likely to irritate
    - If you want to be able to watch TV or read, the recumbent style is easier

    - If you are looking for the higher intensity, especially cardio, a regular style or spinner style bicycle is better

In the end get what you feel comfortable with and are more likely to stick to doing.

Either one will be better than not working out!

Stop stalling and start working out!
