I’ve been checkin out walmart and similar and i noticed i can get an elliptical for only little over $100.
People who know bout excercies equipment pls respond.. i realize you get what u pay for, but how is cheap elliptical different from expensive one? (magnetic vs air or sumthing like that?)

i am getting it to supplement my newbie running program

Any intelligent opinions are really appreciated.
Thanks you!

i have a 1980 schwinn world sport, i want to put brifters on them, which work the best?

05 Jun

which would be the best brand and model if i wanted to put brake/shifters on the bike? i dont really like the stem shifters, kind of awkward and hard to do especially when your hands are not near them at all. which work the best?

What do I have to do if I want to replace my bike’s handlebars for dropped bars?

26 May

My bike currently has upright bars. If I replace these handlebars for the dropped ones, what am I supposed to do about the brakes and shifters? Do I reattach it somehow or do they need to be replaced as well.
I recently got into biking, so I haven’t a clue what to do.

Thanks =)
My bike is an 09 Coda Sport.

I have a Schwinn Co-Ed bicycle and want to find out the year by the serial number. It is D455459?

14 May

It has the typical two tone blue and white seat. 26 inch wheels, bike is blue with white trim.

I have mild CP and bicycle to work. I saw a 3-wheel bicycle the other day. I want one. Who sells them?

29 Apr

It was an upright recumbent bike. It was So cool, it even looked disabled person friendly. I bike 3 miles to work and it wears me out. My legs, knees, ankles, feet, etc, all kill me everytime and my walking is getting worse. I use a 2-wheeled 30 yr old+ mountain bike, which I figure is a fair portion of the problem (aside from the CP ofcourse). Anyhow, I have been toying with the idea of upgrading to a newer bike, possibly a road bike. But this 3-wheeled recumbent bike might be better for me and much easier on my body parts.

How much do they cost? Where can I get one at? Is it possible to get one free of charge somewhere?

I want the following repairs done to my bike, how much should it cost?

26 Apr

I am looking to have the following done to my bike (let me know what to look for)):

Tires fixed (they need to have air added once a week or sooner at this point)

wheeles trued

Front fork/shock thing maintained (nothing wrong, just want it maintained)

Seat fixed so saddle springs don’t depress too much under my weight (I like the seat to tilt forward a little, and it winds up flat or maybe even tilted back a bit–it’s a “comfort seat” with spring in it and it’s getting old).

The steering is loose (not anymore than when it was new, I just prefer tighter if possible) and it makes a sqeeky sound–it also isn’t completely smooth since I tried to make the steering tighter.

Brakes and shifting adjusted

Cockpit adjusted for best riding posture (comfort and performance–it’s a Specialized hybrid, kind of a cross between a comfort and a mountin–the bike is set up for an upright riding, and I want to lean forward a bit)

tune up (general road worthiness overhaul).
Bike is only about 3 years old, and I have just begun to really put any miles on it–probably under 250 miles on it).
Oh, yeah, and it had a tune up two years ago, and the wheeles trued as well

I want to lose 100+ lbs as fast and as safely as possible. How?

24 Apr

I am 20 I weigh 314lbs, I am 5′11. I have been overweight most of my life. I don’t have the money to buy pills, see a doctor or join a gym, I barely have enough money to pay my bills. I want to get down to 200, as fast and safe as possible, can someone tell me how? I am not a good runner, never liked it, but I can stand it for a few minutes. I have some dumbbells at home and a recumbent bike. I need help and support bad….can someone give me some advice?

16 Apr

I want advice for a new bike similar to my Schwinn High Plains?

13 Apr

I wanted a bike that has Rapid Fire Thumb Shifters, and was light-weight. An aluminum frame will be good. My current Schwinn High Plains can be lifted up really easily. I prefer something that is a 21-speed. I have no set budget but I’d prefer to keep it under $500.

i want to burn 500 calories.

11 Apr

I’m at a hotel and I want to use the fitness center to burn 500 calories. I’m 110 pounds by the way.

The machines they have are treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes, and regular exercise bikes along with weights.

What sort of things could I do using a variety of things? Just getting on the treadmill and going is so boring for me.

Plus I’m sore from what I did yesterday.

I want a commuter bike, but old school, black, upright, like you would have seen in London.?

09 Apr

Upright, chain guard, fenders, light generator off the front hub. I saw one in Italy last summer by Bianchi but I can’t find one here in the states….

i want to get a bike, but don’t know much about it?

24 Mar

i did some research, but i’d still like some suggestions:

How i’d like to use it: just for riding around the neighborhood, and when i go off to college in a few months i’ll use it around campus (it will be in st. louis, in MO)
-for exercising, not too many long distances, though

1. brand of bike?
-a friend told me schwinn was good
2. type?
– i think either hybrid or road bike, but i don’t like the vertical handles on road bikes
3. height? (i’m 5 ft 2 in with short legs)
4. where to buy?
– is online a good idea? or bike shop?

other preferences: comfortable, seat below handles for upright seating

Does anyone want to buy a NuStep TRS Recumbent Cross Trainer?

20 Mar

Almost brand new–my husband has progressive multiple sclerosis and we bought it two years ago, but he has progressed so fast that he’s bedridden and can’t use it at all. We live in New York State and with all the health bills and lost time from my work, we’d really like to find it a new home. Multiple Sclerosis is a terrible disease to have and it really takes its toll on the caregiver (me) and the finances..
Please e-mail me if you are the western New York area and you are serious about buying.

I want a good upright road bike, and I can spent up to $800?

17 Mar

In the market for a new bike (female)…I want a hybrid but don’t want to spend a lot…..any help?

15 Mar

I’ve been looking online and even went to a bike shop. I’m not sure if I should get a $200 Schwinn or a $400 Trek. I really just want a bike to get daily exercise…don’t really need high perfomance but I also want it to last a long time. Any suggestions?
