A Review of the Nordic Track A2750 Pro Treadmill

23 Jan

Situated in the middle of the price range for a home treadmill is the Nordic Track A2750 Pro.  This treadmill is packed with features and extras that certainly set it in a category all its own, but is the machine worthwhile?  After talking with numerous customers and doing a great deal of research into the machine, the answer is an unequivocal yes.  This treadmill offers a 12% incline as well as a strong motor and an extra long belt, making it effective right out of the gate.  When adding in a 350 lb weight capacity and running speeds of up to 12 mph, it is easy to see the level of efficiency this machine offers for users of all types.

The Nordic Track A2750 offers 22 workout programs (including distance programs ranging from one mile to a half marathon) as well as a heart rate monitor.  Added features include a touch screen display and an iPod or Mp3 port.  The machine offers built in speakers for listening to your favorite tunes while you exercise.  Perhaps the most notable feature, however, is iFit Live.  This feature allows you to connect wirelessly to the Internet and download maps or terrain that will appear on the screen, allowing you to walk your favorite trails.  You can race against online friends, monitor nutrition, and much more.

In summary, the overwhelming consensus is that the Nordic Track A2750 Pro is well worth the price.  The machine is packed with features ranging from highly functional to highly fun, which can help encourage healthier exercise practices and stave off the urge to stop on the days where exercise just doesn’t seem that fun.  A treadmill is an excellent piece of workout equipment, and with the A2750, you are getting one of the best treadmills available on the market.

A Review of the Schwinn 420 Elliptical

15 Jan

When it comes to ellipticals, there are dozens of models available there that offer the same general function but with a different array of features.  Today we are looking at the Schwinn 420 Elliptical.  At only around $600, this would certainly be considered a budget elliptical, yet it offers a number of features.  In addition to the standard elliptical features, this machine offers a heart rate monitor and much more.  Designed for people with many different types of fitness goals, this single machine offers a total of 16 different resistance levels as well as 12 different workouts.

The Schwinn 420 is designed to provide a great workout for both your upper and lower body.  The machine offers an 18” stride, which provides a more comprehensive leg workout compared to other budget ellipticals.  The perimeter flywheel is designed to offer a more comfortable and smoother ride than many older machines.  When asked about the pros and the cons of the product, most users responded very favorably towards this machine.  The low sound levels and sturdy nature of the machine, coupled with the low price make it a customer favorite.  Complaints are largely with the added features, such as a lack of backlighting and the lack of such features as iPod or MP3 connectors and water bottle holders.

In all, the Schwinn 420 is a solid machine with much to offer.  Heavy gym users may find themselves longing for a machine that provides more features, but for the average workout enthusiast or for a beginner, this machine is hard to beat for the price.  Economy machines are often loud, bulky, or just plain hard to get a good workout with, but this machine offers the function of much higher end models without a high end price point.  For most users, this machine is a perfect combination of price and functionality.

Schwinn 460 Elliptical Trainer Review

15 Jan

Just when everyone thought that Schwinn had pulled out all the stops with the Schwinn 430, no one knew that they would be able to engineer a model that will arguably beat it. Well they just have with the Schwinn 460 Elliptical Trainer.

The biggest difference with the Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer is the new Variable Stride Technology allowing you to adjust the stride length by applying pressure with your feet on the pedals, without having to step off the machine. Stride length can be adjusted from 2 to 26 inches so finding your comfort zone is extremely easy once you get the hang of it.

In comparison with other elliptical machines within the affordable range, the Schwinn 460 is well constructed, made from higher graded steel than the 430. Even with its smaller footprint on much bigger, more expensive elliptical machines, the 460 holds up extremely well on stability.

After assembly, which usually takes only a couple of hours, the initial observations are the compactness; the solid rubber coated/slip resistant pedals and the ergonomic design of the handles.

The Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer console houses a backlit touch screen which is not only very simple to use but it very intuitive and easy to read. It will display the usual speed, time, distance, calories and level and makes workouts simple and easy to perform. The manual mode is self explanatory but there are also 16 programs, two of which are customizable for 2 users. This is quite a cool feature as it keeps track of your total usage per user and the display will indicate what kind of stride you need to perform during the pre-programmed workout.

With the variable stride and usual functioning of elliptical machines, the Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer is extremely versatile. For cardio fitness, high intensity interval training is easily possible for effective calorie burn but with the 16 resistance levels, resistance training is also possible. There are heart rate sensors in the hand grips but the heart rate monitoring strap provided is instantaneous and is a feature you normally would only find on more premium ellipticals.

On the practical side, the water bottle holder is conveniently positioned and the built-in 3 speed fan works extremely well during the more intense workouts.

Pros - Versatile, Construction, Value, Compact, Variable Stride
Cons - Warranty

The Schwinn 430 is already a top seller with home users, so it is quite apparent that with all the upgrades on the 460, that these elliptical machines will prove a fantastic investment also. If you are looking for an elliptical that is affordable but is also extremely versatile to facilitate all kinds of cardio workouts, then look no further than the Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer.

Schwinn 430 Elliptical Review

13 Jan

Schwinn are renowned for their ability to engineer some fantastic pieces of fitness equipment particularly in their stationary bikes ranges. Their elliptical machines range is certainly no different and they have really pulled out all the stops with the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer. Based on the Schwinn 418 they have made several modifications including a new concave wheel to stop wheel shift and allow for a much smoother motion.

From delivery to actually getting going with the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer, the in between assembly could not be any easier. The necessary tools are provided and the easy to follow instructions (with maybe a few slight mistakes in the wording) has the elliptical up and ready for action in just over an hour. Like with most elliptical machines, it makes life much easier to assemble near where you are going to position the elliptical. The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer is a heavy piece of equipment but this can only play an advantage for such a budget priced elliptical, as heavy equals stability.

What you notice as soon as you start to use the elliptical is the extremely smooth, silent and ’squeak-free’ motion, even after a few weeks of working out. The foot pads are of good size and articulate with the motion, helping to reduce stress. Many reviews will suggest that front drive elliptical machines will give an uncomfortable bouncy stride but with the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer, there is no noticeable difference. The stride length is the average 18? which moves in a long smooth motion, so even the 6ft user can perform an enjoyable workout. For increased workout ability this elliptical also incorporates reverse function with upper and lower handle bars to help aid any form of motion. These are especially good for the smaller in height user.

Unlike the 418, the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer comes with 16 levels of electronic resistance. This is great for flexibility in workouts whether be for intensity or endurance training. The well organized electronic display provides the user with all the usual data readings such as Interval, Time, RPM, Watts, Speed, Calories and Heart Rate. Unlike other elliptical machines, the display is not backlit. Unless you prefer to workout in the dark, then don’t let this hold you back from buying a Schwinn 430. Extras include a book holder and a water bottle holder that is positioned in the most convenient of places for extraction and retraction during workouts.

Pros – Price, Value, Construction, Features, Compact

Cons – Warranty

Customer reviews of the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer are simply amazing and many find it hard to fault. In comparison to Horizon, NordicTrack and Smooth Fitness rivals, it is the affordability; build quality, features and practicality for home use that makes these elliptical machines a top seller to home users. For anyone hoping to increase their fitness level in the comfort of their own home, the Schwinn 430 simply has to be the best value for money in the budget range of elliptical machines in today’s market.

A Review Of The Top Exercise Bike Ratings

24 Sep

Exercise bikes are still very popular pieces of equipment in the home fitness field. Although treadmills has taken over the number one sales spot, exercise bikes still get plenty of attention. No doubt, many people are drawn to them because of the familiarity of design. What can be simpler than the design of a bicycle? And riding a bicycle has very good health benefits as we all know.

But which exercise bike is best for you? Actually, the first question to ask is which exercise bike type best for you? You need to answer that question because there are two main types or styles of exercise bikes available for sale. One is the upright bike and the other is the recumbent bike. The upright style looks most like a normal bicycle with a seat and handlebars, and pedals underneath. The recumbent style of exercise bike can look completely different, with a seat that you actually lay in while you work the pedals out in front of you. Either type of exercise bike seems to perform well when it comes to giving you a good thorough cardio workout. So the choice is actually a matter of preference rather then effectiveness.

But which models seem to be rated the best overall? There have been several independent reviews made of exercise bikes over the years, and lots of consumer reviews are available online as well. By going through them, you can get a good feel for both the models that you want to buy, and those that you should stay away from. We have made a search of these available exercise bike reviews and ratings, and here are some recommendations that we can make based on our findings.

1. The Life Fitness C3-5 upright and the Life Fitness R3-5 recumbent bikes are extremely well reviewed and rated highly by almost everyone. In general, Life Fitness exercise bikes seem to get good ratings anyway. But these models enjoy particularly good ratings. They are both packed with features like 20 levels of resistance, an integrated heart rate monitor, and 10 pre-programmed workouts that you can choose from. Another great feature is that they are very solid and sturdy, supporting up to 400 lbs., meaning that even some of the largest consumers will be able to safely use them. And Life Fitness also stands behind their products with a very solid warranty.Expect to pay about $1800 for each.

2. Another manufacturer that gets very high marks in many exercise bike reviews is Schwinn. Of course, Schwinn has been in the bike business for years now, and is no stranger to the exercise bike field. Perhaps one of the best features about Schwinn exercise bikes is how much you get for the money. They don’t tend to come loaded up with all the bells and whistles, so if you want all of that you probably need to look elsewhere. But what they do give you is a solid machine for a very good price. For instance the Schwinn 113 upright and Schwinn 213 recumbent models only cost around $600, but they still have a 300 lbs. weight capacity, 16 resistance levels, and 10 programs to choose from, making it a great value in the exercise bike genre. Expect to pay about $600 for these models.

There are other exercise bike manufacturers and models that have received positive ratings and reviews. For instance,Tunturi exercise bikes have also been rated highly many times in the past by both product reviewers and consumers alike. But the two models we listed above seem to rise to the top of most exercise bike ratings and reviews on a consistent basis, and we feel that they would be a good choice for almost anyone.
