Looking for a PC Compatable exercise bike?

I am looking for a recumbent bike that has the ability to interface with a computer via usb to track my exercise results. Even a good piece of software to do this would be appreciated (mac osx)

I have found a few bikes, but I am looking for something in the sub $750 range.

A few things popped into my head..

How hard would it be to modify an existing exercise bike to transmit the stuff it dumps into it’s computer into mine?

Is there any sort of kit I can attach to any recumbent bike to track the statistics?

Thanks for your time.

Can you give me aerobic exercise ideas?

Ok so I’m looking to loose some weight, but the problem is with exercise I’m quite limited with what I can do thanks to my oh so wonderful knees. My kneecaps dislocate when I run and I’ve collapsed many times because of it, so that’s out of the question, we have a recumbent exercise bike so it keeps my weight off my knees and isn’t so bad, is this my best bet for aerobic exercise? Or is there anything else?

I have had surgery on my worst knee but the doctor tells me that I shouldn’t have surgery on my other knee because it hasn’t “popped out” bad enough to the point where I need surgery. I’ve been trying to get used to running by jogging really short distances and hoping to get over being afraid of my other knee from dislocating.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Recumbent or Upright Exercise Bike: Which is better?

Recumbent or upright exercise bike: which is better? I understand that both are good for cardio, but do you get more benefit from one than the other? Thanks!

How does one find the mindset to exercise?

I’m roughly 60 pounds over my idea weight. I have a stationary recumbent bike that I occasionally ride, but nowhere nearly as often as I should to lose weight. I’m well aware of the physiological benefits of exercising, and how detrimental fat can be. But I’m wondering if anyone knows of a web site or book or something that can help me to get into the proper mindset to do it on a consistent basis.

For comparison, I was wondering if there was something similar to Allen Carr’s book on quitting smoking (which did wonders for me). Thanks!
