I’m not looking to spend a lot of money for some high end racing or mountain bike. I just want a dependable bike to use for exercising on flat trails. I’m leaning more towards the green Schwinn or the blue Mongoose bike. What do you suggest?
Schwinn High Timber 26″ Men
Mongoose 26″ Montana Mountain Bike
Pacific Bicycles Full Suspension Tuscon Bicycle
Pacific 26-inch Men’s Traverse Bicycle

37 year old male, 245ish, 6 foot tall, decided I was too damned fat and needed to start getting some exercise a while back, ran stairs at work, cruised my bike around the hood last year till the weather got crappy, now, I am riding my airdyne twice a day…I started off doing 5 miles in the morning and 5 at night, last week I started doing 10 in the morning and 10 at night (missed a day so decided to try and make it up, did, figured why not keep going with 10). Anyway, I recall checking my pulse rate in the not too distant past and remembering it being around 72 or so, but I just checked it now, before my night ride and also this morning before my morning ride and both were right at 100 (15 sec x 4 method).
I figured I would check out a normal pulse rate on the web and it looks like this might not be so good from what I have found on line….
Ideas/suggestions?
I just went and looked at my calendar and about March 1st was when I switched from running stairs (3 story building @ 10 reps) to my 5mi on the airdyne in the morning and 5mi on the airdyne at night, then last Thursday, 4/10 was when I started the 10mi/10mi airdyne in the morning/night. I think before the riding was when I took my pulse and it was in the 70’s….did not take it since I started the airdyne till now…

I’m looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can’t decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.

i just found out i am pregnant, i am guessing about 1 month. i have been doing the recumbent bike (low impact) and also hip abduction, leg press, leg extension, hamstring curl, and alot of the arm machines. Can I keep doing this or should i swap some stuff out? what about squats, crunches, using 5-8 lb weights for arms, etc??? how about pregnancy yoga/pilates or water aerobics?

I rode a 2006 R6 on Sunday and it has the downward grips (more sport style), but I looked at a FZ6R at a Yamaha shop and like the more upright grip.
Anyone have one of these bikes? What do you think?
I want something I can ride 100+ miles.
I am tall and lean. This would be my first sport bike. I have had an enduro until recently…
Is it sporty enough? I don’t want to do any wheelies and I DON’T need any more tickets.

I am new to riding and have been riding a Giant Butte moutainbike about 30 miles per week. I have an opportunity to purchase an ActionBent Jetstream bike for $400 and am trying to decide if it will be worth my effort
